We could start by factoring in the cost to the environment of growing fruit and vegetables ‘out of season’ and of importing foodstuffs that appear to be cheaper only because the environmental costs are not factored into the price paid by the consumer.
<br /Dennis Hodgsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09409579380626581592noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8290973459084131413.post-70500504400530545892013-02-05T05:38:13.234+08:002013-02-05T05:38:13.234+08:00OK Dennis,

And if I’ve been able to broaden your understanding of why organic food is better to eat, then this post has been successful. I think you’ve already realized that hens allowed to roam freely produce tastier eggs than battery hens.

Dennis Hodgsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09409579380626581592noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8290973459084131413.post-19297237998875864252013-02-02T20:19:13.712+08:002013-02-02T20:19:13.712+08:00Hi Matteo. You wouldn’t believe the quantity of grass clippings, hedge trimmings and other organic material that is collected, from this source and from public parks, river banks and motorway embankments, and it all goes into landfill!!! I maintain a compost heap at my house in the UK, and I’d love to have Dennis Hodgsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09409579380626581592noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8290973459084131413.post-82531683693726551892013-02-02T18:50:05.459+08:002013-02-02T18:50:05.459+08:00Wow, I've learnt so much just by reading this ...Wow, I've learnt so much just by reading this post. I honestly didn't know there was so many factors in regards to soil, but then again why would I? The vast majority of the worlds population live in cities. Therefore the consumers of veg/meat etc have no idea of the practicalities of growing things, keeping, slaughtering animals etc.

I would like to eat more organic foods butRum-Punch Drunkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13531893705181077869noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8290973459084131413.post-17166785972424312272013-02-02T09:55:24.796+08:002013-02-02T09:55:24.796+08:00Wasn't there a time when people were more resp...Wasn't there a time when people were more responsible for feeding their own families from their own organic backyard gardens? Is it possible for each high rise community in Hong Kong to have their own gardens? Why does it seem that growing real, life-giving food is not a priority in many places? Maybe it is a sign that as humans in general, our priorities are out of place.Matteohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07339424635893623978noreply@blogger.com
